High purity aqueous urea solution of 32.5% urea

What is AdBlue®?

AdBlue® is a high purity aqueous urea solution of 32.5% urea according to ISO 22241 and CEFIC AUS 32 Quality Assurance Guidance Document. Borealis Linz/Austria is a producer of ammonia and urea. We produce AdBlue® in an integrated production process. In this way we are able to comply with the highest quality standards. Through an investment in two 1.000 m³ storage tanks we guarantee high product availability at our site in Linz.

Application

NOx reduction agent for SCR technology in order to reach EURO IV, V and VI limits of diesel engines.

Field of application

Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks and buses with SCR technology, tractors, construction machineries and diesel passenger cars. AdBlue®which is stored in a separate tank on the vehicle is sprayed directly into the hot exhaust gas. The water evaporates and urea hydrolyses in ammonia and CO2. In the SCR catalyst, the nitrogen oxides (NOx) react with the ammonia to harmless nitrogen and water vapour. Available in dedicated tank trucks or in 1000 l IBC.

EURO Norms: NOx limits for Heavy Duty Trucks and buses have decreased

In order to reduce the atmospheric load with noxious substances, the European Union (EU) began in 1990 to gradually lower the emissions harmful to the environment by setting norms for diesel utility vehicles. The four harmful substances included in the norms are hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). These norms are valid for new registered utility vehicles and buses in the whole EU 28. The introduction of EURO VI has already been finally decided. The new statute stipulates a reduction of NOx from 2,0 g/kWh in EURO V to 0,4 g/kWh in EURO VI. This is a further decrease of the NOx limit of 80%.
